Ask Falcon questions directly in Slack to get instant answers from your knowledge base -- without leaving your conversation.

Ask Falcon questions directly in Slack to get instant answers from your knowledge base -- without leaving your conversation.

## Prerequisite

Ensure [Slack is connected](https://falconer.com/docs/set-up/connect-sources.md) to your Falconer org.

## Add Falcon to a channel

Mention `@Falcon` in any channel where the bot is present to ask questions. Falcon responds with answers grounded in your knowledge base, including citations to source materials. You can also DM with Falcon or add it to a group DM.

## Ask questions

Mention `@Falcon` followed by your question. Falcon searches your connected documents, code repositories, and Linear tasks to provide accurate answers with citations. Falcon searches public-channel messages across your connected Slack workspace on demand. You can name a channel to narrow the search.

**Example questions:**

```perl
@Falcon How does authentication work in our API?
```

```rust
@Falcon What's the deployment process for staging?
```

```css
@Falcon Who owns the marketing site?
```

Falcon provides real-time responses with citations to specific files, documents, or conversations so you can verify the information and explore further.

If a thread contains a lasting decision or repeatable team process, ask `@Falcon remember` to save it. Specify whether it is for you, your team, or the company. See [Capture decisions in Slack](https://falconer.com/docs/ask/capture-decisions-in-slack.md) for facts and team skills.

## Ask about Knowledge Health findings

If Knowledge Health is enabled for your organization, Falcon can search its findings from Slack, so you do not have to open the dashboard to see what the last audit flagged.

```perl
@Falcon what did the last Knowledge Health audit find?
```

```sql
@Falcon are there any open contradictions in our docs?
```

Falcon reports findings by title, with their category (contradiction, coverage gap, redundancy, stale doc) and severity. A broad question such as “what did the audit find?” returns the currently open findings even when it matches no finding by keyword.

## Permissions

Falcon respects your organization's permissions. Users only see answers based on documents and resources they have access to in Falconer.
